This was received as an E-Mail from Darrell Stoddard, Founder Pain Research Institute:

Message: Your information about aspirin and Tylenol were good. I think you need to add that McNeal Pharmaceutical (makes Tylenol) was going to put a warning on Tylenol which said that an overdose (adult dose) can cause severe liver damage and even death in a child. Did you hear me? I said "DEATH"!
(your style of writing. It's great).

I showed a patient the news release from McNeal and they told me a neighbor gave an adult Tylenol to a child and the child had liver failure and died, yes "Died" from taking one adult Tylenol. That's why McNeal was going to put such a warning on Tylenol - because so many children died. I haven't seen the warning yet, however, or maybe it's so small my old eyes can't read it.

Banana Peels Will Stop Headaches Ann Landers
(The good doctor is wrong!)

A neurologist specializing in headache treatments responded to an Ann Landers' column in which it was suggested that a banana peel across the forehead and across the back of the neck would help relieve headaches, perhaps because of the potassium in the peel.

The doctor stated,
"Headache is not always a minor disorder that responds easily to such simple cures. Each month in the United States, approximately 3 million days are spent in bed by headache sufferers. Many of these people are in excruciating pain, unable to tolerate even the light from a bedside lamp or the sound of a child's step. Some vomit repeatedly. For them, trying to cure a headache with banana peels is like trying to irrigate the Sahara by spitting."

========================================================================================

I have measured the electrical resistance at the site of pain in more than 14,000 patients and can state categorically that pain is caused by the breaking, cutting, failure, or suppression of electrical signals between cells in living tissue. With headaches this often occurs across the forehead and across the back of the neck.

When I read the column, I couldn't run fast enough to the kitchen to get a banana to find out how well the peel would conduct an electrical signal. Just as I thought, banana peels are excellent conductors. Putting the inside of a banana peel next to the skin across the forehead and another across the back of the neck may therefore help to heel the root cause of many headaches (by reconnecting the broken circuits that cause the pain).

This, instead of just masking the pain with medication that may have harmful side effects.

You my readers, for the cost of a banana, can find out for yourself. The doctor's advice that banana peels cannot help headaches is wrong! Banana peels will stop many headaches (no matter how severe).

Pursuant to the above, The Pain Research Institute is testing a number of conductive materials to produce a "headache band." The best we have found is a material impregnated with Sterling Silver. For $20.00 we will send one for you to test. The data is still limited, but the results are promising. Only two of more than 20 chronic headache sufferers have reported receiving no relief from the head bands. Following is a response from one of the patients:

To Whom it may concern,

"I have suffered severe headaches since 1967 when I fractured my back ejecting from a jet during combat in North Vietnam. I have the headaches almost 24 hours a day. About a month ago Darrell gave me a headband to use for my headaches. These headbands are wonderful! I wear them almost constantly to prevent headaches - even sleeping with it on. I notice that while I am wearing it I seldom have a headache. If I take it off, my headache is back within a minute.

I have loaned my headband to a number of persons suffering from headaches, sometimes for only a few minutes before they hand it back saying their headache is gone. I highly recommend these headbands to anyone suffering from headaches."
Robert Houghton, Major USAF (Ret)

Subsequent to writing the above letter Major Houghton injured his back and had severe pain (sciatica) clear to his foot. He taped his headband along the route of pain from just below his knee down to his foot. The pain went away. He also reported that after wearing the headbands for about three months, the headaches are now better and he doesn't have to wear the headband anymore. For the first time in 26 years, he is completely free of headaches.

Another tip for stopping headaches without drugs. I was discussing the above phenomenon with Dr. Verl McBride, Ph.D. who has spent a lifetime successfully helping children and adults with learning disabilities by synchronizing the hemispheres of the brain using patterning exercises.
Dr. McBride suggested another way to stop headaches: Put a patch over one eye. After several minutes if it doesn't work, try the other eye.
Putting a patch over one eye, visually eliminates the disharmony of the hemispheres of the brain which may be causing the headache. There are also several exercises that do this. One is crawling on your hands and knees without turning the head with the eyes following the hands.

You may look silly wearing a banana peel on your forehead and neck with a patch on your eye, crawling on the floor, but it sure beats $400 botulism toxin injections or nerve suppressing medication. Make sure you drink a large glass of water before you try this. Dehydration is a prime cause of headaches.

(This guy can write for me any time...he cracks me up!)

The cure of leprosy for Naamen the leper in the Bible was to wash seven times in the river Jordan. The cure for the Children of Israel was to look upon the brazen serpent on the rod. Both of these were too simple. Most things that really work are simple.
