YEAST

(probably more than you wanted to know)

There's a fungus amungus!

Candida, Candidiasis, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
There is that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) thing again. Dr. Bruce West of "Health Alert" July 1996 opines that by the year 2000, (4 years) Chronic fatigue will be the dominant health problem.

"Hidden Killers by Dr. Erik Enby which chronicles the revolutionary discoveries of Professor Guenther Enderlein, states:
"Candidiasis is a parasitic yeast (mycotic) infection caused by common types of Candida:
Candida albicans, is an opportunistic yeast that normally inhabits the mouth, throat, intestines and genitourinary tract of most humans and is usually considered to be a normal part of the bowel flora (the organisms that coexist with us in our lower digestive tract). Its job is to recognize and destroy harmful bacteria. Without Candida albicans in our intestines we would be defenseless against many pathogen bacteria. In a healthy person, Candida albicans is numbered in millions. It is controlled by a properly functioning immune system and "friendly" bacteria. However, if the number of friendly bacteria is decreased (antibiotics), the immune systems is weakened or other conditions for yeast proliferation occur (diet high in sugar, improper pH in the digestive system) Candida albicans will shift from yeast to mycelial fungal form and start to invade the body. In the yeast state Candida is a non-invasive, sugar-fermenting organism, while in fungal state it is invasive and can produce rhizoids, very long root-like structures. Rhizoids can penetrate mucosa or intestinal walls, leaving microscopic holes and allowing toxins, undigested food particles and bacteria and yeast to enter the bloodstream. These condition is known as Leaky Gut Syndrome (LGS) and that is an explanation for food and environmental allergies.

fungus--usually Candida albicans and Candida parapsilosis--that has become a significant problem in medicine. During the past few decades, levels of yeast have increased dramatically in many people, most likely because modern Drugs and diet can adversely affect the body's defensive response and stimulate Candida growth, which Dr. Enderlein and other researchers discovered has a clearly visible life cycle that advances from spore to mycelial form in time. "

A number of immunologists suggest that the health of approximately 80 million Americans may be adversely affected by Candida albicans allergies. In addition, Candida infections often affect adolescents and adults who use oral antibiotics and steroids, obese people, and those who suffer from diabetes or debilitating illnesses. The problem also can be ex acerbated by a modern diet rich in refined sugar, fats and processed foods. Not surprisingly, candidiasis is a widespread problem in many Western cultures, including the UES., West Germany and other European countries.

Candida fungi exist naturally as part of normal body flora in the mouths, gastrointestinal tracts, skin, and oral cavities of healthy people, where friendly bacteria help the immune system keep it under control. On the other hand, antibiotics, X-rays, steroids, and cell-killing Drugs kill off this normal flora needed to suppress Candida. When allowed to proliferate freely, the microorganisms can produce a wide range of problems, including fungus infections on the fingers, gastrointestinal disturbances, and oral candidiasis, or thrush, which produces a white coating on the tongue. Additional symptoms include sores at the corner of the mouth, white patches on the inside of the cheeks, redness and swelling around the fingernails, and moist red rashes.

These effects can weaken the immune system even further, leading to far more serious ilnesses, including: arthritis, autism, athsma, psoriasis, infertility and hyperactivity in children. Dr. John Trowbridge who specializes in diagnosing and treating this disease, warns that candida can even lead to Multiple sclerosis.

Vaginal candidiasis, a frequent cause of inflammation of the vagina and vulva, produces a white, cottage cheese-like discharge. Medical practitioners believe that changes in vaginal acidity induced by use of birth control pills--which alter the body's hormonal balance--may be responsible for increased incidence of this fungal infection. Normally, a correct pH serves as a natural protective coating against infection. However, opportunistic Candida bacteria can take advantage of the more acidic environment in the vagina to cause disease. Nevertheless, many women use birth control pills for years without experiencing noticeable problems.

Antibiotics and Candida Infections

Doctors strongly suspect that continued use of antibiotics such as ampicillin and tetracycline can produce yeast vaginitis by killing the body's natural healthful flora that keeps Candida in check. . If the fungus enters the bloodstream, it can travel to the heart, lungs or brain, and cause deadly poisioning. Life-threatening Candida infections are often treated with intravenous injections of strong, toxic anti fungal agents used to fight chronic infections. Although attempts to kill Candida with anti fungal agents may provide immediate relief, the effects are often only temporary.

In healthy people, the body's natural bacteria combats fungal invaders and helps to build up immunity. On the other hand, antibiotics destroy valuable intestinal coli bacteria and lower the body's defenses making it vulnerable to attack by fungi such as Candida albicans.

Moreover, many people are unaware that they consume antibiotics without a doctor’s prescription, particularly in the FOOD they eat.

READ THAT AGAIN

Antibiotics are routinely used as supplements in animal feed or to treat sick livestock, such as pigs and cattle. As a result, humans who eat animal products--especially farm-produced MEATS--that contain antibiotics may be destroying their native bacteria and paving the way for Candida infections and other fungal diseases.

Some doctors believe that yeast is implicated in a wide variety of human ills, from depression and hormonal disturbances to allergic reactions and auto immune diseases. In fact, Candida may interfere with the body's T suppressor cells, part of the immune system that keeps cytotoxic or killer T cells from attacking the organs and tissues. Certain people might have a genetic predisposition to this condition, and an individual's immune system may not be strong enough to beat back the opportunistic parasite. When this happens, symptoms of chronic candidiasis begin. Use of steroids such as PREDNISONE also suppress the immune system, making it easier for the yeast to multiply and take hold within the body.

Common medical treatment for Candida infections involves use of oral anti fungal drugs, vaginal suppositories, and injections of Candida antigens, which induce the formation of specific antibodies. In addition, some patients have chronic magnesium deficiency and cannot metabolize fatty acids properly. Vitamins and other nutritional supplements are sometimes administered to reintroduce essential nutrients.

Treating Candida infections With Biological Medications

According to Dr. Enderlein, it is necessary to address the causative microorganism and change the body's internal environment to cure illnesses. To improve their inner ecology and restore a proper pH balance, it is recommended that Candida patients change their diet, begin exercise programs, and avoid unnecessary burdening of the body with antibiotics and other harmful substances. In addition, use of suppositories and local injections of Candida parapsilosis (PEFRAKEHL) are highly effective in curing Candida infections and preventing new outbreaks.

I have experienced excellent success in treating many patients with Candida infections, which I consider to be a widespread problem today. To heal vaginal infections, I treat my Candida patients with suppositories of Candida parapsilosis (PEFRAKEHL) and Penicillium notatum (NOTAKEHL) in combination with SANUVlS L (+) lactic acid to restore the natural acid-base balance of the affected area. In some cases I prescribe a mixture of Penicillium roqueforti (FORTAKEHL), UTILIN, and Candida parapsilosis (PEFRAKEHL) drops in yogurt or on bread to help rebalance the patient's internal environment. Treatment must often continue for six months or more to completely eliminate the problem.

I also have found that young women who take large amounts of antibiotics to prevent acne or treat other minor may unwittingly prepare their internal environment for Candida problems later in life. When biological aging reduces the body's ability to fight off harmful microorganisms, resistant pathogenic agents which have been living in the body for many years without causing damage can appear again in a very prolific form, contributing to serious such as cancer, rheumatism, and stroke. This process, which usually begins between the ages of 40 to 50 in most people, can also afflict younger adults who abuse antibiotics or other drugs and have poor dietary habits. (Dr. Erik Enby)
